Introduction
The birthplace of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Puttaparthi is a highly revered Hindu pilgrimage centre. It is a small village where Sri Sathya Sai Baba was born and spent much of his life. He preached the universal values of truth, peace, righteousness, love, and non-violence, and is believed by his devotees to be the incarnation of Sai Baba of Shirdi. Devotees from across the world visit Puttaparthi to seek his blessings.
This village has deep cultural and spiritual roots. The Chitravathi River flowing nearby adds to its serene charm. The main attraction of Puttaparthi is Prasanthi Nilayam, the ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, established in 1950. One of the most notable features of the ashram is its museum, which displays detailed models of famous religious structures such as the Golden Temple in Amritsar and the Mecca Masjid. The museum also presents the life journey of the saint through photographs, from his birth to his spiritual mission. In addition, it highlights the core principles of major world religions through quotations. The ashram complex also includes a planetarium, educational institutions, a hospital, recreation centre, guest houses, canteens, shops, a library, and an assembly hall.
