History of Panaji

Panaji, the capital of Goa, is settled on the left bank of the River Mandovi. Panaji or Panjim was the name given by the Portuguese, which literally means 'The Land That Never Gets Flooded'. About the City

Panaji is planned in the grid pattern with the Church Square or Largo de Igreja as its central point.
