About Uttaranchal
Uttaranchal Tour This
nascent hill state is situated on the foothills of Shivaliks and is actively
being promoted for tourism by the state government. The state is already a
hub for adventure sports lovers and is also home to many important Hindu
pilgrimages. The state has immense potential to become a tourism hub as it
has it all, be it nature, wildlife, adventure or pilgrimages. Uttaranchal
was formerly a part of Uttar Pradesh and is one of the most entrancing
regions of northern India. The land of Uttaranchal has natural beauty and
bliss bestowed upon it and that's why it is also known as Dev Bhoomi (the
land of Gods). Most of the prominent rivers of India originate from here
among which Ganga is known as the most sacred of all. Uttaranchal state is
the ideal abode of snow with the Kumaon region in the east as well as
Garhwal in the west. If it is calmness and tranquility that you are looking for, then Uttaranchal is the place you should be headed towards. If you want to get close to wildlife, Jim Corbett National Park is the perfect place for you. Location: Uttaranchal is surrounded by Uttar Pradesh on the western and southern sides and by Himachal Pradesh and Haryana on the north western corner. The space on the north eastern border is taken by Tibet and the state itself is a part of Western Himalayan ranges. Tourist Destinations: Uttaranchal is a package of 14 hilly districts combined into one. Flora and fauna are abundant in all these districts. The state also has the Nanda Devi Peak which is at the height of 7817 meters above sea level. A big chunk of the land of Uttaranchal is covered by alpine forests that also have some endangered species nestled in their lap. Some of the important tourist destinations of Uttaranchal are: Almora
Almora is the cultural capital of Kumaon region of Uttaranchal. The other
two districts in the Kumaon region are Nainital and Pithoragarh. The natural
brilliance is so undisturbed that the place has a divine feel about it.
There are four hill ranges around it. These are - Banari Devi, Shayahi Devi,
Kasar Devi and Katarnal. The first three have temples of Goddesses on the
peaks whereas the fourth one has a Sun temple. Almora also has a museum that
speaks volumes about the culture of Kumaon. The city also has a deer park on
the periphery of it.
KausaniThe place is a hill station in Uttaranchal that offers unhindered views of the mountains, especially the peaks of Nanda Devi and Trishul. Along with the regal mountains and pine trees, the climate of Kausani is so amiable that tourists come here all through the year. Nainital In
popularity and fame, Nainital ranks right up there with the top hill
stations of the world. The city itself is named after the Naini lake which
is situated in the center. The China peak is the highest peak in Nainital
and is a trekker's delight. The other famous attractions of the place are
Hanuman Garhi, snow view, Bhimtal, Sat Tal etc. Chopta If you are travelling on the road from Gopeshwar to Ukhimath, then you'll reach Chopta after about 40 km. One of the most prized possessions of the Garhwal region ,
Chopta provides us with panoramic views of the Himalayas and other nearby
areas. The other tourist attractions worth a visit here are Tungnath Shiva
Temple, Gopeshwar which is famous for its refreshing climate, Kanchula Korak
Musk Deer Sanctuary - renowned for breeding musk deer and Ukhimath, which is
the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath. Mukteshwar Mukteshwar is a typical hill station with all the trappings added with it. The Mukteshwar temple is the central attraction of the place where you can reach by stone stairs only. The temple is situated at the height of 2315 meters and is dedicated
to Lord Shiva. Pauri Pauri has all the essential elements required for a picturesque hill station. It offers splendid views of snow capped Himalayas, beautiful valleys, rivers, forests and lively people. Pauri, apart from being an attractive tourism destination itself, mostly serves as a stopover for touring the nearby destinations
such as Khirsu, the temple of Ghandiyal Devta, Adwani, Tara Kund etc.Dehradun Dehradun is bounded by Himalayas in the north, the Shivalik range in the south, the sacred river Ganga in the east and Yamuna in the west. Dehradun is among the oldest cities in India and also a very popular tourist destination due to the beauty of the place as well as the presence of large number of religious and historical places in the city. ![]() How to reach UttaranchalThe state of Uttaranchal is easily accessible by all three modes of transport, whether by air, rail or road route. Jolly Grant is the only airport nearby which is connected to Delhi by regular flights ... or, you can choose to go to Delhi by road and board a flight from there to your respective destinations. There are three major railway stations in the state - Dehradun, Haridwar and Kathgodam. These are connected to the rest of the country by regular trains. Although the railway network in the state is not well developed due to the difficult terrain that the state has, the road network is not found lacking as all the major destinations are connected by good metalled roads. Sometimes, though, it has been seen that due to landslides and snowfall, some of the areas become inaccessible.
