The luxury train offers 8 days/ 7 nights tour to various famous tourist destinations of India. Reflecting the glory and charm of Maharashtra and North Indian states, the train covers the following destinations: Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Aurangabad and Mumbai.

History

The Indian Maharaja Express is the brainchild of the Ministry of Railway, Government of India and MTDC (Maharashtra Tourist Development Corporation). This train is modeled on the concept of some of the best luxury trains in the world such as Eastern and Oriental of South East Asia, the Orient Express of Europe and the Blue Train of South Africa.

Schedule

The Train starts its journey on every Wednesday of the week from Delhi and Mumbai. The train remains operational from November to April. For the rest of the months the train remains non-operational for maintaining its high standards.

Facilities and Services

The train offers 21 luxurious coaches which are categorized into 11 passenger cars, each having 4 luxurious coupes, 2 coaches of Presidential Suites(each having 2 coupes). The suites have a bedroom, a living room and well fitted washroom. Each passenger coach has 4 compartments fitted with king-size beds and twin beds. Each compartment is fitted with a mini suite with a wardrobe and safe with attached restroom and showers. All the coaches offer best of facilities such as wall to wall carpeting, channel music, MP3 players, attached toilets, intercom, and shower with running hot and cold water? to make you fell comfortable and special.

Dining

The two wonderful restaurants of the train are managed by the Taj Group of Hotels. The well trained chefs offer delicious Indian, Goan, Chinese, Maharashtrian, Rasajthani and Continental cuisine.

Bar facility

The Bar on the train serves a variety of Indian and International brands of alcohol. Depending on your taste you can choose from scotch, Indian malt whiskey, liquors, wines, vodkas and rums etc.

Rejuvenation facilities

The facilities of well equipped gym and rejuvenating Ayurvedic massages are offered for your recreation.

Conference Facility

With an accommodating capacity of 50 people, the conference room of the train is well-equipped with modern facilities.

Lounge

Guests can spend their leisure in the lounge which is well fitted with color TV, CD & MP3 player. You can also enjoy the mesmerizing views of the countryside from the lounge during daytime.
