Parasailing in India

Soaring high in the blue skies has long been a fascinating dream. Gliding gently over hills and valleys, rising slowly like a bird, is truly a thrilling experience—and parasailing makes it all possible. Parasailing is practiced with great enthusiasm and spirit in India. This recreational activity involves a person being towed behind a vehicle (usually a boat) while securely attached to a parachute. Whether it is the steady sea breezes of Goa, the thermal flying conditions of the Western Ghats, or the tabletop terrain of Panchgani, India is perhaps one of the best destinations to let you fly high like a free bird. Except during the monsoon season, parasailing can be enjoyed throughout the year.

There are three methods of parasailing offered to adventure seekers in India: Winchboat Parasailing, Beach Parasailing, and Platform Parasailing. Among these, winchboat parasailing is the most popular. You can soar high in the following regions:

Himachal Pradesh

  • Billing
  • Kullu
  • Solang
  • Lahaul & Spiti

Uttaranchal

  • Naukutchiyatal, Nainital
  • Dayara Bugyal, Garhwal
  • Dhanolti Ridge, Garhwal
  • Bedni Bugyal, Kumaun

Kangra Valley is the most popular hub for gliding activities in Himachal Pradesh. Bir and Billing in Kangra are renowned parasailing destinations. Bijli Mahadev is an excellent site for hill launching and offers ideal conditions for thermal soaring. Garhwal is a paradise for parasailers, bordered by the Great Himalayas in the north and the plains of the Terai region in the south. Its unique topography makes Garhwal an excellent destination for both beginners and experienced paragliders. Ideal sailing sites include Naukutchiyatal in Nainital, Dayara Bugyal, Pratap Nagar, Dhanolti Ridge in Garhwal, and Bedni Bugyal in Kumaon.

The open countryside of Rajasthan also offers remarkable gliding opportunities, including Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bikaner, and Kota. Parasailing in Maharashtra is largely conducted along the Western Ghat hill range, which runs almost uninterrupted from Gujarat in the north to the Nilgiri Hills in southern India. Popular parasailing locations include hill stations and fort sites such as Matheran, Deolali, Mahabaleshwar, Singhgad, and Panchgani. In Goa, parasailing is offered at locations such as Bogmalo Beach, Plaza Resort, Hydro Sports, Fort Aguada Beach Resort, and Goan Banana’s Water Sports.

Make your parasailing experience safer and more complete with proper equipment such as life jackets, quick-release systems, helmets, wind meters, wind socks, feather flags, launch bar systems, harnesses, and double or triple bars. You need to be physically fit and mentally strong to stay alert and avoid obstacles while performing this sport. Avoid attempting stunts, and always parasail with a fully licensed and insured operator at a well-established location. Avoid parasailing during rain, fog, or near shorelines, other boats, and fixed objects.

Soar high and embrace the vast blue skies. The very idea of flying is enough to fill you with thrill. We welcome you to India to experience the euphoric adventure of parasailing.
