There is no other fascinating destination in India than Goa for the lovers of water sports. The vast coastline and picturesque beaches are perfect venue for experiencing thrilling water sports in Goa. The ideal season for water sports in Goa is from October to May. It is the period when the weather is at its best and the sea is placid. The water sports facilities are one of the best in Goa and at par with water sporting facilities in international destinations. There are several institutes in Goa that provide beginner's lessons and training in water sports. Some of the hotels in Goa also have facilities for water sports. Some of the popular water sports available in this beautiful Indian state are angling, dinghy sailing, parasailing, scuba diving, water scooters, water skiing and wind surfing.
Angling is the one of the safest and easiest of water sport activities. You require only a fishing rod, some bait and ample amount of time and patience for this water sports. The sea is full of tempting seafood and frequent catches comprises soormai, salmon and mullet. For angling in Goa, you can head to Betul and Agonda.
Dinghy Sailing is also called as 'Beer and Sandwich Sailing'. This is also a pretty relaxed water sports as the dinghy sails calmly in the direction of the gentle wind. The dinghies are generally 15 feet long and can accommodate three to four people at one time. The dinghies are available on rent at many resorts or at private water sports operators.
Parasailing is an adventure-cum-recreational activity in which the person attached with a parachute tows behind a motorboat with little or no control over the parachute. The thrill of this sport is to sail in the air 300 feet above the water while enjoying the panoramic view. Parasailing can be enjoyed at Goa beaches like Anjuna, Baga, Candolim, Dona Paula and Majorda.
It is a surface water sport combining both surfing and sailing. For this sport, a windsurfing board is taken which is powered by the effect of the wind on a sail. The surfer sailing through the water has to balance himself to the changing currents of water and wind. If you wish to indulge in this sport then head to Dona Paula beach in Goa as it is the perfect destination for this.
Water skiing is a sport where an individual is pulled behind a boat or a cable ski installation on a body of water, skimming the surface. Get your basics right if you are a beginner. Some of the best places for enjoying this sport are Bogmalo beach, Cavelossim beach, Dona Paula beach, Calangute beach and Sinquerim beach.
