Mumbai, the second largest city in India, is the capital of Maharashtra. Its temples, cathedrals, and mosques are renowned worldwide. This Ajanta and Ellora Tour takes us to some of India’s finest temples and ancient caves. The Ajanta and Ellora Caves reflect the art and sculptures of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism, three of India’s major religions. These caves are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage monuments.
Day 01 Flight to Mumbai
Arrive in Mumbai by flight. After a traditional 'Swagat' (Welcome), our representative will assist you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel for check-in. Overnight stay in Mumbai.
Day 02 Mumbai Sightseeing
Morning visit to Elephanta Caves. Explore the harbor area and visit the Gateway of India, built in 1927 by the British to commemorate King George V's visit. Other highlights include the Gandhi Museum and Hanging Gardens. Overnight in Mumbai.
Day 03 Mumbai – Aurangabad (by air) – Ellora Caves
Morning flight to Aurangabad. After a short break, visit the Ellora Caves (7th–10th century AD). These magnificent rock-cut temples are UNESCO World Heritage sites, representing the art and sculptures of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism. Return to Aurangabad for overnight stay.
Day 04 Aurangabad – Ajanta Caves – Aurangabad
After breakfast, drive to Ajanta Caves (approx. 100 km). Of the thirty caves, caves 9, 10, 26, and 29 are sanctuaries (Chaityas) containing stupas. The remaining caves are monastic residences (Viharas). The poet Kalidasa described these caves as gems of architecture, rich furnishings, and artistic expressions. Return to Aurangabad for overnight stay.
Day 05 Aurangabad – Hyderabad
After breakfast, drive from Aurangabad to Hyderabad. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay in Hyderabad.
Day 06 Hyderabad Sightseeing
Visit Charminar, Salarjung Museum, and explore the local bazaars. Overnight in Hyderabad.
Day 07 Hyderabad – Gulbarga (via Bidar)
After breakfast, explore the 13th-century Golconda Fort. Then drive to Gulbarga via Bidar, visiting Rangin Mahal, Sola Khamba Masjid, and Gagan Mahal. Overnight stay in Gulbarga.
Day 08 Gulbarga – Bijapur
Morning sightseeing in Gulbarga, including the historic fort. In the afternoon, drive to Bijapur for overnight stay.
Day 09 Bijapur – Badami
Morning visit to Gol Gumbaz, followed by Ibrahim Roza and Jumma Masjid. Drive to Badami, stopping at Aihole, known as the "Cradle of Indian Architecture". Arrive in Badami, famous for its four cave temples. Overnight stay in Badami.
Day 10 Badami – Hospet
Visit Badami cave temples in the morning. Drive to Hospet, stopping at Pattadakal, which features ten major temples representing early Chalukyan architecture. Overnight stay in Hospet.
Day 11 Hospet – Hampi – Hospet
Tour the ruins of Hampi (Vijayanagara), one of India’s largest historical empires. Explore temples, palaces, and monuments, then return to Hospet. Overnight stay.
Day 12 Hospet – Mumbai
Drive back to Mumbai. On arrival, check into the hotel. Freshen up before departure for the airport with the Caper Travels representative. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay in Mumbai.
Day 13 Mumbai Departure
Tour concludes. Caper Travels thanks you for your patronage and ensures a punctual transfer to the railway station or airport for onward journey.
