It is an identity of this place which is also known as 'Palace of Winds' or 'Palace of the Breeze'. This is a pyramid-shaped facade with five stories which is made up of red and pink sandstone. It has 953 small windows, popularly known as 'Jharokhas', decorated with tiny lattice work. This was built for the women of the Royal Families to watch various activities taking place on the streets. It is among the wonderful Rajputana structures which were built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799. This structure is worth visiting because of its striking features of interiors and exterior decorations.
This is one of the finest architectural wonders of Rajasthan which is made up of white marble and red sandstone. Maotha Lake in its foreground heightens the beauty of this place which gives a spectacular look to this grand structure. The construction of this fort commenced in 1592 during the reign of Raja Man Singh I but it was finally completed during the period of Raja Jai Singh I.
Amber Fort is renowned for its intricate carvings, minute mirror work and mosaic work. The major attractions of this fort are Diwan-e-Aam 'Hall of Public Audience', the forty pillared marquee which was meant for Maharajahs to meet the general public, Jai Mandir 'Hall of Victory' known for its stunning ceiling adorned with mirror work and an inlaid panel. The other known attractions of this fort are Shila Mata Temple with a black marble idol of the goddess Kali, Suhaag Mandir, Ganesh Pol and many more.
This is among the five astronomical observatories of India which was constructed by Maharajah Jai Singh II in between 1727 to 1734. Jantar Mantar of this place is the biggest among all the five which is still used for measuring time, predicting eclipses, tracking stars in their orbits and determining the celestial altitudes of various heavenly bodies. The grand construction of this structure attracts visitors, scientists, architect and historians from different parts of the world.
