Pokhran Tour

Pokhran is like an oasis in the middle of desert where you can experience the beauty of endless sand dunes and captivating desert landscapes.  It is also a pilgrimage centre of Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and Muslims where devotees come in large number throughout the year.

It is a historic city of India which became the most discussed place all over the world after the nuclear tests. In local language Pokhran means 'the place of five mirages'. It got this name from the five salt ranges surrounding the city.

An interesting legend is associated with this place. Based on the quotes of the Hindu epic Ramayana this place was drained by the mythical river Saraswati. The river dried up as a consequence of Lord Rama arrow which was shot to dry up the ocean between India and Sri Lanka so that his troops could cross the ocean easily.
