The history of Woodville Palace dates back to 1865, when Sir William Mansfield, Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Army became the first resident of this charming estate. This building was reconstructed under the supervision of The Raja Rana of Jubbal State in 1938 when numerous veteran artists were imported from as far as China to ensure the highest quality of craftsmanship. Kanwar Uday Singh, the grandson of the Raj of Jubbal, opened the mansion as a heritage hotel in 1977. Today, the palace is counted amongst one of the finest places to stay in Shimla.
