India and COVID-19 an Update - II

Hope this letter finds you, your colleagues and family members safe and in good health.

The current Covid 19 pandemic has affected millions of people worldwide, changing the way we lived, worked and socialised. It has also altered the way we travel and explore the world. The world economies have come to a standstill causing much unwanted circumstances for everyone. However in the midst of this chaos there has been some good news as well, many countries including Europe, Australia and New Zealand are gradually getting ready for normalcy. With almost all countries getting closer to developing a vaccine we yearn for a better and Covid free future.

In India, although the Corona virus cases have touched 200,000 the mortality rate has been very low about 3% while the recovery rate is 40%. Keeping in mind the vast population of India, people affected here with Covid are less than 0.001% and deaths in proportion are almost negligible.

India has prepared itself to deal with the rising number of case with respect to infrastructure, testing facilities, quarantine centers, upgradation of health facilities and right now the situation seems to be controllable. High temperature of around 40 degrees Celsius in summers and the BCG vaccination given to almost every child here at birth is believed to be helping India fight this disease without many casualties.

With the WHO stating that Covid might never go away, people need to be cautious by maintaining social distancing, using face masks and maintaining good hygiene personally as well as around them.

In India, the lock down has been extended until the 08th June however economic activities have resumed in gradual and phased manner keeping health, safety, hygiene and social distancing in mind. Our office has also started operating with half attendance. Domestic flights have also started their operation from 25th May 2020. We are hoping for recommencement of international flight soon too. Special Trains have already begun operating with limited connection and services.

Our Airports, Hotels and we as a Tour Operator are also getting ready to welcome guests with new enforced safety measures adopted and strictly to be adhered to as our foremost priority for our patrons. Disinfecting all touch points regularly , greeting with NAMASTE, avoiding all physical contacts and maintaining social distancing will be our ?New Mantra? and practice.

WHO and the Indian Ministry of Health/ Ministry of Tourism has framed guidelines for safe travels which are being implemented by Airports in India as well as by all hotels.

We as a company have utilized this time for some research work, training, developing SOPs for operations and developing our IT infrastructure to serve you better. We will share the Safety Guidelines and CODE of conduct which we have adopted as a Tour Operator in our next communication.
