Kapaleswar Temple
This is an ancient temple situated in Mylapore dedicated to Lord Shiva. The fragmented inscriptions of this temple dates back to 1250 AD. But the present temple was rebuilt by Vijayanagar Kings in the 16th century. The magnificent 37 meters carved Gopuram of this temple is adorned with the carvings of gods, goddesses and saints depicting scenes from Hindu legends.?
Birla Planetarium
It is the most modern planetarium in the country with the fully computerized projector. Nearby Periyar Science and Technology Museum are the other attractions of this place which interests science and technology lovers.
National Art Gallery and Government Museum
The museum is located at Egmore which was founded in 1857. This museum displays artifacts related to archaeology, geology, anthropology, numismatics, botany and zoology with sculpture and armory.

This is the world headquarter of the Theosophical Society that promotes study of comparative religion, philosophy and science.
