India and COVID-19 an Update - V

As India is static at 4th position in world’s list of Civid-19 cases with cases more than 4.5 lakhs but the recovery rate is increasing slowly and gradually. Now the recovery rate is at 56% whereas the fatality rate is constant at 3%.

No. of cases has been increased at bit as the various states like Delhi has increased their testing capacity to more than twice and thrice of the capacity they had earlier.

Even though with so much of cases; 30 cases per lakh population in India is among the lowest globally.

The External Affairs Ministry has requested diplomatic missions in India to resume Visa processing services “in view of lifting of lockdown”. The move comes at a time when the Govt. is considering a calibrated resumption on international flights from next month depending on the pandemic situation. Resuming Visa services is a sign of normalcy returning post-pandemic.

Aviation Minister has said on June 20, “We can start international flights when our domestic traffic reaches 50-60% and other countries open up to international traffic”. As of now international flight operation remains suspended till 30th June. (Source Times of India).

India has started Domestic flight operation on 25th May, after two month suspension, when India entered into it’s first phase of Corona Virus lockdown. As of now domestic flights are operation with 30% cap and flights operators have urged the Government to “move that 30% cap up to 50%” as it’s the time to reduce the international restrictions.
