Shiv Niwas Palace is located on the bank of Pichola lake. The idea of building this beautiful palace was to serve the guests of Maharajah with royal treatment and personal touch. In its time it has hosted a large number of gatherings which includes George V of the United Kingdom and Edward the Prince of Wales.

This former residence of Maharana of Udaipur was built in the beginning of 20th century. The keen interest of the king in art can be noticed in interiors of the hotel. Glass mosaic and frescoes work is done by the artisans who were sent to England by Maharana, especially to learn these art forms. Ivory and mother of pearl inlay work inside the palace is appreciable and worth experiencing. The management is in hands of HRH group of hotels, which is owned by the current Maharana.

Shiv Niwas Palace delights its guests with garden view in the south and Jag Mandir and Lake palace in the west view.

Location

Located in city palace complex, hotel Shiv Niwas Palace is easily accessible. One can hire private car or can reach the hotel by using state transport.

Stay

At the initial stage, the palace was designed with 9 suites on the ground floor but at time of conversion into hotel, a new story was added. At present the hotel has thirty six guest rooms including 19 deluxe rooms, 8 terrace suites, 6 royal suites and 3 imperial suites. Dining Facilities

Be it Indian traditional or European style, Shiv Niwas Palace serves the food that you like. For those who want to try Muglai, Rajasthani or Continental cuisines, Paantya restaurant is the place. This multi cuisine restaurant is decorated with royal chandeliers and authentic paintings.

Palki Khana is another restaurant that offers heritage liquor and ?European style ambience. Mewar sound and light show are the highlights of the restaurant.

Apart from the heritage hotel, Shiv Niwas Palace is also known for hosting business meetings for his reputed guests. Well equipped meeting suits are available on request.
