Sohna Hills

Sohna Hills is a wonderful attraction near Delhi. Sohna is a town located in the Gurgaon district in the state of Haryana. The term Sohna means ‘Gold’. Once the gold dust was collected from the sands of the streams flowing around this place and hence it was named Sohna. This destination is also popular for its hot water springs. The sulphur springs here have temperature ranging between 46°C to 51.7°C. During the ancient time this destination was called the abode of hermits. Sonha Hills is 56 km from Delhi and the best way to go to this arresting destination from Delhi is by a car.

There is a kund here called Shiv Kund whose water is believed to have medicinal properties. During the solar/lunar eclipse and Somavati Amavasya people come here to take bath in the water as it is believed to be auspicious to take a dip in the waters during this period. There is also an ancient temple here which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Sohna Hills is a picturesque destination located at an altitude of 212 mtrs at the foothills of Aravallis. A wonderful fair is organized here in November every year. And the Teej festival which falls in the month of July/August is also celebrated with great enthusiasm here. The huge park on the top of the hill is a famous attraction here. It houses a restaurant and offers lodging facilities. This park offers picturesque views of the town. There is also a swimming pool with water flowing from the wall murals.

Accommodation facilities are also available at Sonha Hills. Damdama Lake near Sonha Hills is another attraction here. You can enjoy boat ride amidst peaceful and beautiful environment at the lake. Vintage Car Rally by Haryana Tourism is also organized here in the month of February.
