Benaulim Beach Tour

Benaulim, located 2 km away from Colva beach, is renowned across the globe for its mesmerizing blend of sea, sun and sand. According to Hindu mythology, it is said that this beach is a gift given to the sage Shri Parasurama, Lord Vishnu’s sixth incarnation, who threw an arrow into the sea from the top of the Western Ghats and ordered the waters to recede. The spot where the shaft fell on earth is known in Sanskrit as ‘Banali', which was later corrupted by the Portuguese therefore this place known as Benaulim.

Nossa Senhora de Merces (Our Lady of Mercy) Church

This is among the important churches of Goa famous for its architectural design, decorations and constructions. The church is famous for its annual religious event Fama of Menino Jesuse (Child Jesus) which is celebrated at this place since the 17th century. The Catholic community celebrates it on the third Monday of October every year. It is among Goa’s most popular feasts in which a huge fair is organized showcasing the vibrancy of Goa.


The Church of St. John the Baptist

This church is another popular attraction of this place situated on a hill beyond the village. It is a magnificent church known for its design and decorations. During the monsoon season, feast of St John the Baptist (Sao Joao) is celebrated as thanks giving day.


The Bull Fights

From early October to late May, from 4 pm onwards, one can enjoy bullfights at Benaulim. With the Konkani music playing, the bullfights are usually take place in an old rice field with no fences or barricades just outside the village.


Water Sports

This beach is famous for water sports activities such as boat rides, parasailing, jet skiing and windsurfing. Along with activities, tourists can also enjoy ‘Dolphin Cruises’.
