Travel to Pernem Pernem Pernem

Pernem is the northern most administrative region of Goa tucked between Chapora and Arondem rivers. It is among the known attractions of Goa tourism where tourists come to enjoy peaceful vacations amidst scenic nature. Before being merged into Goa, Pernem was a part of the territory of the Rajas of Sawantwadi.


Pernem has a beautiful coastline with long sandy beaches, lagoons and coconut plantations. It is primarily a Hindu town famous for its temples such as Shri Bhagavati and Shri Sapteshwar. This place is known for its annual fair held at the Shri Bhagavati Temple on the occasion of Kojagiri poornima.

Sri Bhagavati

This is among the popular temples dedicated to Goddess Bhagavati (Lord Shiva’s consort). It is a 500 year old structure located in the main bazaar. The temple painted in bright color and decorated elaborately with two big sculptured elephants. Besides the main deities, there are some exquisitely sculptured ancillary deities. A large numbers of devotees flock to this place during 7 days ‘Bhajanisaptah’ celebration in the month of Kartika.


Sri Morjee Temple

This is a small shrine dedicated to Kanakeshwar Baba or Bodgeshwar, who is popularly known as Bongini. Large number of devotees comes here to get holy blessing. A festival is held in the temple premises in the month of December/January. Thousands of devotees come here to worship the Kanakeshwar Baba.


Sri Chandeshwar Temple

The temple is located on the Chandranath hill and famous for Shiva Linga. It is interesting to note that the temple atop the hill has been designed in such a way that moonlight directly falls on the Shiva Linga on the full moon night.
