Indore is the largest city in Madhya Pradesh, situating on the banks of the River Khan and Saraswati.  Renowned for its impressive temples and magnificent memorials, this historic city was ruled over by leading dynasties, mainly Holkars. Indore, ' Mini Mumbai ' of India, is all set to please the visitors with its social inheritance. Situated on the tranquil environs of the Malwa plateau, Indore shows a consolidation of inspired past with a bustling future.

On the one hand, it covers some of the most important examples of Holkar architecture that have been preserving over centuries in the city's temples and palaces. The architecture of the monuments in Indore emerges out truly a blend of different styles. Also the city comes as a home of cricketers that presents world-wide legends like the famous C. K. Naidu.


General landholders brought in vision to Indore in 1715 as a trade centre in the Narmada River valley. Also they built the Indreshwar temple in 1741. This city gains its name from this temple. It became the capital city of the Holkars. Indore was built by Ahilya Bai, the queen of Holkar family.

Indore Museum

Indore museum is known for its assemblage of coins, arms and armours. Housing the finest collection of Parmar sculptures from Hinglajgarh, this museum displays numerous artefacts from the prehistorical to contemporary period of time. The Parmar style developed here is defined by proportional figures, cautiously and ornately portrayed in stone.

Kanch Mandir

The impressive temple gets one of the leading sites coming as the most enticing part of Madhya Pradesh tourism. This Jain temple is adorned with intricate glass-work. The magnificent glass-work inside the temple is a captivating illustration of master accomplishment. The deity in the temple is Lord Mahavira. Kanch Mandir was built by a local businessman in the early 20th century.

Kamala Nehru Park

Kamala Nehru Park is popularly famous as Chidiya Ghar and the park too. This has a restaurant and an ice cream parlour overlooking the Khan River. Here evening attractions consider elephant rides, camel rides, pony rides and buggy rides.

Lal Bagh Palace

Lal Bagh Palace appears out as the palace of grandness indicating the aesthesis, splendour and manner of the Holkars. This palace is a fine composition, getting in use for essential purposes and functions. The extensive gardens of the palace present it an important juncture in Indore.

Sukh Niwas Palace

Sukh Niwas Palace is a historical monument in Indore presenting itself as the summer palace of the Holkar rulers. Flourishing with the history, this extensive construction exhibits a complete blend of Indian and western style architecture. This beautiful palace today comes as a prosperous picnic resort that entrances people with its beguiling charm.


Rajwada is the historical palace of the Holkars, built about two centuries ago. It is a seven storied structure serving as the living example of the splendour of the Holkars. It places amongst the thronged streets of the Kajuri Bazar and faces the main square of the city.


Indore has passing climate between a tropical wet, dry and a humid subtropical climate. Here the best time to visit Indore is from October to March.
