Introduction

Indore is the largest city in Madhya Pradesh, situating on the banks of the River Khan and Saraswati.? History

General landholders brought in vision to Indore in 1715 as a trade centre in the Narmada River valley. Also they built the Indreshwar temple in 1741. This city gains its name from this temple. It became the capital city of the Holkars. Indore was built by Ahilya Bai, the queen of Holkar family.

Indore Museum

Indore museum is known for its assemblage of coins, arms and armours. Housing the finest collection of Parmar sculptures from Hinglajgarh, this museum displays numerous artefacts from the prehistorical to contemporary period of time. The Parmar style developed here is defined by proportional figures, cautiously and ornately portrayed in stone.


Kanch Mandir
