Akshardham Temple ,Gandhinagar Gandhinagar Children's Park in Gandhinagar

Location: 32 km from Ahmedabad on the west bank of Sabarmati River

Introduction:

The capital city of Gujarat, Gandhinagar is a beautiful city which derived its name from Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of Nation. Ideally located on the west bank of River Sabarmati, the city is fast gaining popularity as a tourist destination. It is a known center of learning in the state.

History:

The city of Gandhinagar was founded in 1965 and it was declared the capital of Gujarat in 1971. Earlier Ahemdabad was the capital city of the state.

Main Attractions of Gandhinagar:

Akshardham Temple

It is a must-see attraction of the city. It is an extremely beautiful temple built in pink sandstone by Swaminarayan Sect (richest sect in the world). The exquisite carvings of the temple leave the onlookers enchanted. Sprawling over acres of land, the temple also has lush green gardens festooned with fountains.

Children’s Park

It is a beautiful park in the city where people come to relax and enjoy. It is a famous picnic spot of the city. You can enjoy a pleasurable ride on a mini train or sail through the lake on a boat in the park.

Sarita Udyan

It is another beautiful place where people come for picnic. Located along the Sabarmati River, it offers several recreational facilities for entertainment.

Deer Park

Located near Sarita Udyan, this Park is set amidst peaceful surroundings. Away from the hustle-bustle of the city, it is a perfect place for relaxation.

Craftsmen’s village

Located 7 km off Gandhinagar, Craftsmen’s village is popular for its Bandhani Saris and wooden blocks carved with beautiful designs for hand printing on cloth. The craftsmen of this village are well known for their flawless and wonderful craftsmanship. It is the perfect place to buy hand printed material.
