Mughal Gardens

Dal Lake

8 km long and 4 km wide, beautiful Dal Lake is the pride of Srinagar. Picturesque location of the lake includes snow-covered mountains, water stretch beyond the views and the spectacular Shikaras. Highlight of the lake is its beauty that remains intact throughout the year. In summers, you can spend a memorable time on the Shikaras and during winters, walk on the frozen lake. Lokut Dal, Gagribal, Nigeen and Bod-Dal are other lakes in the region.


Jama Masjid

Built by Sultan Sikandar, it is an architectural wonder of 1400 AD. Located at Nowhatta, Jama Masjid is a religious place. This mosque is a combination of beauty, artwork and spiritual aura. 370 wooden pillars of the mosque make it a fascinating destination. For anyone having interest in history, culture or beauty, it is not less than a treat.


Dachigam National Park

Literally meaning ten villages, the park is home to the endangered Hangul or Kashmir Stag, Himalayan Black Bear, Long-Tailed Marmots, Leopard, Common Palm Civet, Jackal, Red Fox, Yellow-throated Marten and Himalayan Weasel. It also has 145 different bird species including the Lammergeier, colourful species like Monal Pheasant and Blue Magpie.


Rozabal Shrine

Followers believe that Jesus Christ survived the crucifixion and escaped to Kashmir, where he lived till the last day of his life. Rozabal is believed to be his tomb and hence is visited by Christianity followers from all over the world.


Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden

Nestled in the backdrop of the majestic Zabarwan Hills is the Asia’s largest tulip garden. It is adorned by 70 varieties of tulips which add to its magnetism. Tulip Festival every year in April is a major draw, featuring local handicrafts, luscious cuisine and cultural programs.


Shopping in Srinagar

Pamper the shopaholic inside you, and try your bargaining skills in the markets of Srinagar which are bulging with Pashminas, Kashmiri Tea, Copper utensils, Carpets, Walnut wood products, Papier mache and spices. Best places to look out for are Lal Chowk, Polo View, Badshah Chowk, Residency Road, Dogra jewellery, Zaina Khandal Road and the Floating market.


Other Attractions

Khanqah-e-Molla, Hazratbal Shrine, Shankaracharya Temple, Pari Mahal, Sri Pratap Singh Museum and Wular Lake are other attractions of the region. Tourists must ensure their visit to all these during their trip to Srinagar.


Best Time to Visit

Winter (October to March) has the temperature down till minus 10 degree Celsius; making it perfect for skiing and watching a snowfall. Summer (April - May) is time for Tulip festival and also an escape from summer heat from the rest of India. Monsoons (June to September) are not very aggressive in Srinagar; hence a tour can be planned without a second thought.


How to Reach Srinagar

By Air: Sheikh ul Alam International Airport connects Srinagar with Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Leh and Chandigarh.

By Rail: Udhampur station is nearest to Srinagar, around 60 km from the city. Travelers can also reach Jammu Tawi railway station, which is about 290 kms away from the city.

By Road: Srinagar has a lot of public and private buses and cab services that provide excellent road connectivity with Delhi, Jammu, Leh, Pahalgam and Chandigarh.
