Canacona is one among the five taluka which make up southern Goa. It is among the most visited destinations of Goa tourism because of its scenic ambiances. Etymologically Canacona is a distorted version of Konkan which itself derives from Sanskrit word Konvapuram.

This area boasts some of the most outstanding sceneries because of its setting against backdrop of the Sahyadri Hills. It is abundant in lush green vegetation with a diverse collection of flora species. The Canacona region was earlier a part of the Soonda kingdom which was annexed by Portuguese in 1791. ?This place is also the gateway to many Goa southern beaches like Agonda, Palolem and Rajbhag.

Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary

This is among the most popular attractions, famous for its diverse collection of flora and fauna species. It is located 10 km southeast of Chaudi and visited by scores of tourists who come here from across the globe. This is the second largest wildlife sanctuary of Goa spreading over an area of about 86 sq. km. Some of wild animals which can be seen here are tigers, leopards, gazelles, sloth bears, porcupines, panthers, hyenas, monkey, wild boar and odd gaur.

Palolem Beach

This is another prominent tourist attraction in Canacona situated 2 km west of Chaudi. It is famous for its serene and scenic ambiances that enthrall tourists during their visit to this place. The beach is renowned for its water sports and several beachside restaurants. This beach is the perfect place for dolphin spotting. The beach resorts here provide proper facilities of boat and lights for watching dolphins at night.

Shree Sanusthan Gokarn Parthagali Jeevotham Math

The sacred place belongs to the Gaud Saraswat community which was established in 1475 by Swamiji Shreemad Narayanateertha. It is located at Parthagali.

Shree Mallikarjun Temple

This is a beachside temple dedicated to Lord Mallikarjun (incarnation of Lord Shiva). The temple is famous for more than 60 shrines of Indian gods and goddesses.
