Deriving its name from Goddess ?Shoolini?, Solan Himachal Pradesh is a wonderful tourist destination for rejuvenating oneself amidst a peaceful and beautiful environment. Dr. Yashwant Singh Paramar University Of Horticulture and Forestry
Covering an area of 550 hectares, this Forestry & Horticulture University is the first of its kind in Asia. Its foundation was laid by Dr. Y.S.Paramar, the first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh in the year 1985. There are around 14 departments in the university and more than 200 scientists and teachers. It offers all kind of courses in horticulture.
Devi Temple
Built in honor of Goddess Sholoni Devi, this temple is known for Sholoni Devi fair. It is held here with great enthusiasm every year in the month of June. If you wish to get acquainted with the rich cultural heritage of the Solan district, then visit this fair.
Barog
Barog is an enchanting place located only 8 km from Solan. Roosted at an altitude of 1600 m, this place captures the hearts of tourists with breathtaking views of Churdhar Peak. This peak is also called the Mountain of the Silver Bangle. Also, visit the Barog height resort which is located atop a hill and offers mesmerizing views of the surroundings.
Best Time to Visit
The best season to visit Solan is Summer and onset of Monsoon from February till November. June and July should be avoided due to the possibility of land sliding.
