Introduction
Manipur Zoological Garden is the pride of Imphal. Established in 1976, the garden is situated at a distance of around 7 km from the state capital. With lush green fields on two of its sides, the zoological garden is providing shelter to many endangered and rare flora and fauna species. This uniqueness of the garden has won it the title of 'Jewel Box' of the state. Loaded with greenery, the garden is a treat for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Wildlife Attractions
Be it flora or fauna, the park enjoys richness in everything. Its rare collection of species allures tourists from different locations across the globe. In park, visitors can spot around 55 species of birds. These birds are not only a treat for bird-watchers but also keep the atmosphere chirpy and melodious. Animal section of this park consists of around 420 species including some rare and endangered species as well. Sangai is the highlight in the animal section. Counted amongst world’s most endangered species, Sangai is only found in Manipur. Lush green surroundings and colourful flora of the garden keep the environment green and soothing.

How to reach
By Air: Imphal airport is the nearest one. Tourists can reach the airport from all the prime locations across the country. Regular flights are provided by prime operators.
By Rail: Dimapur railhead is around 215 km from Imphal, which connects the region with rest of the country.
By Road: Guwahati and Silchar are connected with Imphal through a wide network of roads. Tourists can hire a private vehicle or can use state transport to reach the destination.
Important Info
Manipur Zoological Garden remains closed on Monday. Except this day, tourists can plan their visit on any other day. Best time to visit the garden is the winter time. (November to April). During this time, the garden enjoys salubrious weather. Visiting hours for summers are different from winters. In summers, the garden opens up at 10:00 a.m. and closes at 4:30 p.m. In winters, the visiting hours are 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Tourists need to buy a ticket to enter in the garden and ticket counters close half an hour before the closing time of the garden.
