Summer Festival

The only hill station of Rajasthan, Mount Abu transforms itself into some other world during the colourful Summer Festival. The festival is organized by the Rajasthan Tourism, Municipal Board, Mount Abu & District Administration. Streams of travellers flock at this hill station to partake in this yearly festival celebrated in the month of June. Amidst a pleasurable climate, picturesque backdrop, pristine nature and cultural extravaganza, this two-day festival takes away the breath of all the participants.

The Summer Festival of Mount Abu underlines the tribal life and culture of Rajasthan. The festival is held every year during Buddha Poornima. One can experience the rich Indian hospitality and warmth of Indian traditions during the celebrations. Mingle with the locals and enjoy the sights of colourful fairs. The sights of locals singing Rajasthani songs and dancing on traditional folk music are heart-pleasing. Do not miss the very exciting boat race organised on the Nakki Lake during the festival.

A ceremonial procession is carried out during the festival which begins from the RTDC Hotel Shikhar and ends at the Nakki Lake Chowk. The closing ceremony is a mix of impressive fireworks along with local performances which make many jaws drop. Other exciting activities during the Summer Festival include Skating Race, skater's Show, CRPF Band Show, Horse Race, Tug of War, Panihari Matka Race and Deepdan.

As Rajasthanis are known for their musical taste, the festival is beautified with Sham-e-Qawwali, a well- known musical extravaganza where many renowned qawwals or singers participate.
