Best Time to Visit

Set at an altitude of 2800 m, Sonmarg can be visited in any part of the year. However, best months to visit here are from April to October.

November to April, temperature drops down to subzero level and in December Sonamarg experiences heavy snowfall which may lead to road blockage. Monsoons July ? September should be avoided for heavy rainfall causing land sliding.


How to Reach

By Air: Srinagar airport is the nearest to Sonamarg at 59 km. From airport, one can take a bus for Sonamarg.

By Rail: Srinagar railhead connects the region with Udhampur and Jammu Tawi, which further connect the region with rest of the country.

By Road: Sonamarg is well-connected with all the nearby cities. Tourists can use the services of state transport or can hire private vehicle to reach Sonamarg. Special luxury buses are also operated by private service providers from Jammu and Srinagar to Sonamarg.
