Chamba
This small town in Himachal is dotted with many temples, all of which are worth a visit like the Laxmi Narayana Temple, which is built in the Shikhara style. Besides this, there is the Chaugan, which is the centre for all activities in Chamba. The annual Minjar Mela, held in the Chaugan, attracts lot of tourists. The Akhand Chandi Palace, must-visit tourist spot, reflects the royal splendour of Raja Umed Singh who had constructed this palace in 1748-1764 AD.
Kangra
Kangra town, over looking the Ban Ganga torrent, is famous for its temples and is definitely worth a visit. Notable is the shrine dedicated to goddess Brajeshwari. The tourists can see the remains of the Kangra Fort, the fort of the rulers of Kangram which is located on a strategic height, overlooking the Ban Ganga and Manjhi rivers.
Dharamshala
Enter Dharamshala, and you feel as if you have entered a tiny Buddhist locality. Filled with oak and conifer trees and surrounded by snow-capped mountains on the three sides, Dharamshala is a hill resort where you can slide into a spell of introspection, while being surrounded by astounding natural beauty. Other tourist spots are MCleodganj, Tibetan Medical & Astro Institute, Bhagsunath, St. John's Church, Kunal Pathri, War Memorial.
Surrounded by towering peaks at arm length, Manali is located very close to the snowline area. It is the center of the flourishing orchard industry a popular honeymoon destination and trailhead for numerous treks.
Kullu Valley
Kullu valley is situated on the banks of the river Beas, and is the headquarters of the district. This valley also serves as a starting place for a number of treks.
How to reach Himachal Pradesh
One can reach Himachal Pradesh by air, train or by road. The nearest airport is Kullu, which is 23 kms away. The nearest railway station is at Kalka, which is 90 kms away. If one is opting to reach Himachal via road, then from Chandigarh, it is about 117 kms away, from Kullu- 220 kms, from Manali- 260 kms, from Delhi- 343 kms, from Pathankot- 380 kms, from Ambala- 151 kms, from Chail- 43 kms, and from Dehradun, it is 240 kms. There are many buses and taxi services that one can avail to reach Himachal Pradesh.
